... The Flood Advisory remains in effect until 215 am akdt Wednesday
for the Nulato Hills...

Around two inches of rain fell over the Nulato Hills from the
Unalakleet river northward on Monday. Some locations on west facing
slopes likely received more than two inches of rain.

Small streams and rivers draining the Nulato Hills from the
Unalakleet river northward are running near bankfull. Minor flooding
is likely occurring in low lying areas along some streams and
rivers. The high water will continue to move downstream and water
levels will gradually fall through tonight.

Hunters and other travelers are urged to monitor water levels be
prepared for high water and minor flooding.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated or minor
flooding is occurring or is imminent.

previous daily rainfall record for the 1st of September of 0.69
inches set in 1953.

... Storm system brings heavy rainfall to the interior...

A weather system moved across northern Alaska bringing heavy
rainfall to portions of the interior as well as snow to the
Alaska and Brooks ranges. The Fairbanks Airport received 2.24
inches of rain between noon Monday and 11 am Tuesday. The 24 hour
period ending at 11 am Tuesday is the wettest 24 hour period on
record for the month of September. The previous record was 1.61
inches that fell on 15 September 1925. The 2.24 inches of rainfall
between noon yesterday and 11 am Tuesday also sets the record for
the greatest rainfall amount over two calender days for the month
of September. The previous two calender day record was 2.03
inches that fell on 15-16 September 1925.
