The National Weather Service in Shreveport has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Little River County in southwestern Arkansas...
Howard County in southwestern Arkansas...
north central Miller County in southwestern Arkansas...
Sevier County in southwestern Arkansas...
Nevada County in southwestern Arkansas...
Hempstead County in southwestern Arkansas...
McCurtain County in southeastern Oklahoma...
northeastern Red River County in northeastern Texas...
northeastern Bowie County in northeastern Texas...

* until 515 am CDT

* at 107 am CDT... Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
showers and a few emebdded thunderstorms continuing across much of
the warned area. Widespread rainfall amounts of three to in excess
of seven inches has fallen since Friday afternoon... which has
produced widespread flooding which has led to numerous Road
closures. Flash flooding is already occurring... and will continue
through 515 am.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
hope... De Queen... Ashdown... Nashville... Prescott... Mineral Springs...
Dierks... Horatio... Foreman... Umpire... Idabel... Broken Bow... Lockesburg...
Emmet... Wilton... Blevins... Perrytown... Rosston... Tollette and
Fulton.

Additional rainfall amounts of a quarter inch up to an inch... are
possible in the warned area through 515 am.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Little River at Horatio, Arkansas.
* From this evening to Monday afternoon... or until the warning is
cancelled.
* At 200 PM Friday the stage was 19.4 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 27.0 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage this Friday evening and continue
to rise to near 31.0 feet by Saturday evening. The river will fall
below flood stage by Sunday evening.
* Impact... expect flooded boat ramps. Secure livestock to higher
ground.

Oklahoma and northeast Texas... including the following areas...
   in Arkansas... Columbia... Hempstead... Howard... Lafayette...
Little River... Miller... Nevada... Sevier and Union. In
northwest Louisiana... Bossier... Caddo... Claiborne and Webster.
In southeast Oklahoma... McCurtain. In northeast Texas...
Bowie... Camp... Cass... Cherokee... Franklin... Gregg... Harrison...
   Marion... Morris... Panola... Red River... Rusk... Smith... Titus...
   Upshur and wood.

* Through Saturday evening

* thunderstorms containing heavy rainfall are expected to continue
to spread across the four state region tonight. Additional
rainfall amounts of two to four inches... with isolated higher
amounts in excess of six inches... will be possible through
Saturday. Given that grounds have become saturated from ongoing
rainfall... this additional heavy rainfall has the potential to
enhance runoff and result in flash flooding.

* In addition to the flash flooding threat... this heavy rainfall
will cause significant rises on area rivers and lakes.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
