... Red flag warning in effect from 11 am this morning to 7 PM MST
this evening for strong winds, low relative humidity and very high
fire danger for southern Gila County and the Tonto National Forest
foothills...

The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a red flag
warning for strong winds, low relative humidity and very high fire
danger, which is in effect from 11 am this morning to 7 PM MST
this evening.

* Affected area... southern Gila County/Tonto National Forest
foothills.

* Winds... southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph this
afternoon and early evening tapering off and becoming 10 to 20
mph later in the evening.

* Timing... strong and gusty winds can be expected to develop by
late morning, peaking during the afternoon/early evening hours
and then tapering off by the mid evening hours.

* Relative humidity... as low as 10 percent during the early
evening in conjunction with the strongest southwest winds.

* Impacts... fuels are very dry and fire danger is very high. These
conditions combined with low relative humidity and strong winds
will lead to widespread hazardous fire weather conditions
primarily affecting far southern portions of Gila County.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Please advise the appropriate officials and fire crews in the
field of this red flag warning.

7 PM MST this evening for strong winds, low relative humidity and
high fire danger for southern portions of fire weather zone 151...

* affected area... southern portions of fire weather zone 151
including eastern Pima, Santa Cruz and Cochise counties. This
also includes the Catalina, Rincon, huachuca, Whetstone and
Santa Rita mountain ranges.

* Timing... the warning is in effect from 11 am MST this morning
through 7 PM MST this evening.

* Winds... sustained 20-ft southerly winds less than 10 mph this
morning will shift to the southwest and increase to 15 to 25
mph with gusts to 40 mph in the afternoon.

* Relative humidity... relative humidity will quickly decrease
to less than 15 percent by midday Monday, with minimum values
of 5 to 10 percent in the late afternoon.

* Impacts... any fires that develop or are ongoing will have the
potential to spread rapidly, especially in areas with a high
dead grass Load.

... Fire Weather Watch in effect from Tuesday morning through Tuesday
evening for strong winds, low relative humidity and high fire danger
for the southeast half of fire weather zone 152...

* affected area... the red flag warning is for the majority of fire
weather zone 152 including Cochise, southern Graham and southern
Greenlee counties. The Fire Weather Watch is for the southeast
half of fire weather zone 152, including southeast Cochise
County.

* Timing... the warning is in effect from 11 am MST this morning
through 7 PM MST this evening. The watch is in effect from 10
am MST Tuesday morning through 7 PM MST Tuesday evening.

* Winds... sustained 20-ft southerly winds less than 10 mph this
morning will shift to the southwest and increase to 15 to 25 mph
with gusts to 40 mph in the afternoon. On Tuesday, southwest
winds will begin to increase around mid-morning. Sustained west
20-ft winds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts to 45 mph will occur during
the afternoon hours.

* Relative humidity... relative humidity will quickly decrease to
less than 15 percent by midday Monday, with minimum values of 5
to 10 percent in the late afternoon. On Tuesday, expect higher
relative humidity, with minimum values in the afternoon between
12 and 17 percent.

* Impacts... any fires that develop or are ongoing will have the
potential to spread rapidly, especially in areas with a high
dead grass Load.
