... Flash Flood Watch in effect from noon MDT today through this
evening...

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of Colorado and Utah, including
the following areas, in Colorado, Animas river basin, central
Colorado River Basin, central Gunnison and Uncompahgre river
basin, debeque to Silt corridor, Four Corners/upper Dolores
river, Grand Valley, grand and battlement mesas, Paradox
Valley/lower Dolores river, Roan and tavaputs plateaus, and
Uncompahgre Plateau and Dallas Divide. In Utah, arches/Grand
Flat, canyonlands/Natural Bridges, La Sal and Abajo Mountains,
southeast Utah, and tavaputs plateau.

* From noon MDT today through this evening

* scattered to numerous thunderstorms with heavy rain are expected
over the watch area, developing by this afternoon and
continuing through late this evening.

* Heavy rainfall, especially over already saturated soils from
recent rains on Wednesday, could lead to flash flooding in
Canyon Country, including those dangerous slot canyons, burn
scars, and on normally low flow or dry streams and creeks. Water
can rise quickly downstream of heavy rain, even when the parent
thunderstorm is miles away. Rock and mud slides, and high water
flowing across roads, are also possible which could impact
travel. Heavy rainfall is also possible on Friday, with the
focus shifting towards west-central and southwest Colorado.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
