Monday...
... High surf advisory remains in effect until 8 PM EDT Monday...
... High rip current risk remains in effect through Monday
evening...

* coastal flooding... minor flooding will continue along portions
of the St Johns River and its tributaries from Jacksonville
southward to Palatka around the times of high tide. South of
Palatka... toward Welaka and the Ocklawaha river basin... minor
to near moderate river flooding will continue around times of
high Tide. Water levels will be slow to recede within the St
Johns River basin as northeasterly winds continue.

* Waves and surf... seas building to 7 to 12 feet... with surf 6 to
8 feet along the northeast Florida beaches.

* Timing... minor to moderate flooding will continue through at
least Monday... peaking around the times of high tide.

* Impacts... elevated tide levels will cause minor flooding of
low areas along the St Johns River and its tributaries which
will flood... mainly Parks... campgrounds... .normally flood
prone roadways and some docks and boat ramps. High waves and
surf will lead to beach erosion and minor flooding along the
coastal areas late in the weekend.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal flood advisory indicates that higher than normal tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the St Johns
River and its tributaries.

Rip currents will be life threatening.

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in The
Sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins, jetties
and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards and the beach patrol.
Pay attention to flags and posted signs.

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current remain calm.
Don't fight the current. Swim in a direction following the
shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave
for help. If tired, float or tread water until out of the rip
current.

A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach
erosion.
