... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 5 PM this afternoon to
11 am MST Friday...

The National Weather Service in Pocatello has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow, which is in effect
from 5 PM this afternoon to 11 am MST Friday.

* Impacts... roads becoming snow covered and slick. Reduced
visibility from blowing and falling snow. Slick Road conditions
for commutes on Thursday. Wet roadways may become icy after
temperatures fall below freezing after sunset Thursday, creating
hazardous driving conditions.

* Timing... snow beginning around sunset this evening, possibly
beginning as rain in valleys. Snow heavy at times this evening
and overnight, especially along and south of Interstate 86.

* Snow accumulations... 2 to 6 inches in valleys and at least 12
inches above 6000 feet elevation.

* Confidence... timing, medium to high. Amounts, medium. Location
of heaviest snow, low to medium.

* Locations... Burley, Oakley, Malta, Rockland, Lava Hot Springs,
Soda Springs, Preston, Montpelier. Interstate 84 from the
Interstate 86 split to the Utah border. Connor Summit, sweetzer
Summit, Holbrook Summit, emigration pass, Malad Pass, Fish Creek
Summit, Georgetown Summit, Geneva Summit.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow and
blowing snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be
prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and
reduce driving speeds.

* Flood Warning for...
rain and snowmelt in...
north central Oneida County in southeastern Idaho...
Bannock County in southeastern Idaho...
Power County in southeastern Idaho...
southwestern Bingham County in southeastern Idaho...

* until 1215 PM MST Friday

* local emergency management reported continued significant low land
flooding over roadways and in fields. Though cooler temperatures
are expected to move into the area today into tonight, continued
snow melt is likely especially with a couple inches of snow in the
forecast. Snow will start this evening and continue through early
Friday. Temperatures will gradually start to rise Saturday and
daytime temperatures will approach the mid to upper 30s by Monday.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
eastern Pocatello, American Falls, McCammon, Lava Hot Springs,
Swanlake, Neeley, American Falls Reservoir, Aberdeen, Inkom,
Downey, Arimo, Rockland, rose, Fort Hall Bannock creek Lodge,
Pingree, cold water rest area, Taber, Fort Hall Bannock Peak,
Portneuf gap and Springfield.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All

The Flood Warning continues for
the Portneuf River at Pocatello.

* At 6:45 PM Tuesday the stage was 8.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 8.5 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. The
river stage is expected to peak at approximately 9.4 feet Wednesday
night around 1100 PM.
* Impact... at 9.4 feet... water will encroach around sitting benches
near the river at the Pacific recycling trailhead.

south central Caribou County in southeastern Idaho...

* until 400 PM MST Wednesday

* at 401 PM MST, emergency management officials reported flooding in
the Gem Valley south of the town of Grace. Homes are being
inundated and highways and other minor roads are once again under
water.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Lago and Niter.
