The National Weather Service in Goodland has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
Graham County in northwestern Kansas...
Norton County in northwestern Kansas...

* until 530 am CDT

* at 1132 PM CDT... several rounds of thunderstorms this afternoon
and evening have moved over both Graham and Norton counties
producing heavy rainfall. Doppler radar indicates 2 to 4 inches of
rain has fallen. While most thunderstorms have moved out of the
area localized flooding will continue into the overnight hours.
Additional thunderstorm activity is expected to move into the
warned area later tonight as well.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Norton... Hill city... Almena... Lenora... Morland... Bogue... Clayton...
Edmond... Saint Peter... Densmore... Penokee... New Almelo... Calvert...
Reager and Studley.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. If flooding is observed act quickly. Move up to
higher ground to escape flood waters. Do not stay in areas subject to
flooding when water begins rising.
