... Coastal flood advisory in effect until 3 am EDT Saturday...

The National Weather Service in Baltimore MD/Washington DC has
issued a coastal flood advisory, which is in effect until 3 am
EDT Saturday.

* Location... St. Marys County.

* Tidal departure... 1 to 1.5 feet above normal.

* Timing... around the time of high tide. High tides at Piney Point
are at 12:02 PM and 12:22 am. High tides at Point Lookout are at
10:44 am and 11:38 PM.

* Impacts... water is expected to go over a portion of The
Bulkhead near The Straits Point Bridge, and also cover yards in
the St Georges creek and St Marys River areas. Minor shoreline
inundation is possible elsewhere.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal flood advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.

rules to keep in mind when severe weather is expected or is

If a warning is issued... seek shelter indoors immediately. A severe
thunderstorm is defined as producing quarter size or greater hail
and wind gusts of 58 mph or more.

Tornadoes often form very rapidly from severe thunderstorms. If
you are in a Tornado Watch... and a Severe Thunderstorm Warning is
issued for your area... monitor local conditions closely and be
ready to take quick action to save your life.
