... A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 1100 am CDT for
Laclede... northern Texas... northern Wright... southern Pulaski...
southwestern Phelps and Webster counties...

At 707 am CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated an
area of very heavy rainfall across the warned area. 2 to 4 inches of
rainfall has fallen in the warned area this morning causing flash
flooding.

Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause flash flooding to
occur. Locations in the warning include... Beulah... competition...
Conway... Diggins... Dry Knob... Duncan... Edgar Springs... Elkland...
Falcon... Fordland... Fort Leonard Wood... Graff... Grovespring...
Hartville... Hazelton... Huggins... Laquey... Lebanon... Licking...
Lynchburg... Manes... Marshfield... Morgan... Niangua... Northview...
Odin... Ozark Springs... Phillipsburg... Plato... Prescott... Rader...
Richland... Roby... Rogersville... St. Robert... Success... Twin Bridges
and Waynesville. Creeks... streams and low water crossings will be
especially susceptible to the dangers of flash flooding.

This warning includes but is not limited to the following low water
crossings...

Route zz at the Myers branch near Rader...
Route E north of Highway 38 at the Gasconade river...
Greenwood Road at the Pomme de Terre headwaters...
Route a just south of Marshfield...
Route j at Parks creek 2 miles east of Morgan.

Highway b southeast of Lebanon is flooded and impassable this
morning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across
flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It only takes a few inches of
swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southeast Kansas and Missouri... including the
following areas... in southeast Kansas... Bourbon... Cherokee
and Crawford. In Missouri... Barry... Barton... Benton...
Camden... Cedar... Christian... Dade... Dallas... Dent... Douglas...
Greene... Hickory... Jasper... Laclede... Lawrence... Maries...
McDonald... Miller... Morgan... Newton... Ozark... Phelps... Polk...
Pulaski... St. Clair... stone... Taney... Texas... Vernon...
Webster and Wright.

* Through Wednesday evening

* today... intermittent showers and a few embedded storms will move
across the area. Pockets of locally heavy rainfall are possible
where heavier showers train... or repeated move across the same
area. Widespread moderate to heavy rainfall will develop across
the region tonight and Wednesday as low pressure moves northeast
along a front that is stalled over the area. Storm total
rainfall amounts between two and four inches are currently
expected across the watch area... with locally higher amounts
possible. The highest rainfall amounts through Wednesday are
currently expected along and northwest of the Interstate 44
corridor.

* Soils are already saturated across the region... and many
creeks... streams and rivers are already running above normal.
This additional rainfall is expected to lead to flash
flooding of streams... flood prone areas... and low water
crossings. Flooding of larger main Stem rivers may also
occur.

Those camping or floating along area streams and rivers should be
alert for rising water levels.

Rivers potentially impacted by flooding include the Osage...
Marmaton... Spring ... Elk... James... and Gasconade.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
