Crawford County in east central Missouri...
Iron County in southeastern Missouri...
Ste. Genevieve County in southeastern Missouri...
Reynolds County in southeastern Missouri...
Madison County in southeastern Missouri...
Washington County in east central Missouri...
St. Francois County in southeastern Missouri...

* until 145 am CDT Sunday.

* At 531 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area.
Widespread additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 4 inches of
additional rainfall are estimated to have fallen between 230 and
530 PM in Crawford, Washington, Reynolds, and Iron counties and
similar additional rainfall amounts and very high rainfall rates
are expected as this line of storms moves through the rest of the
warned area through the middle part of this evening. This will
aggravate or enhance current flooding and create new areas of
flash flooding that may not have experienced it yet.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Farmington, Sullivan, Bonne Terre, Desloge, Ste. Genevieve,
Fredericktown, Cuba, Potosi, Steelville, Bourbon, Bismarck,
Ironton, Leadwood, Anthonies Mill, Park Hills, Reynolds, Ellington,
Pilot Knob, Iron Mountain Lake and Viburnum.

The additional rainfall heading into this evening and the rainfall
from last night could create a highly dangerous situation in the
warned area over the next several hours!

Numerous Road closures across the warned area are ongoing along with
at least one water Rescue in southern Iron County.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 44 in Missouri between exits 203 and 218.
Interstate 55 in Missouri between exits 143 and 162.

This also includes Washington State Park, St. Joe State Park, St.
Francois State Park, Onondaga cave State Park, Johnsons shut-ins

house State Park, Elephant Rocks State Park, Dillard mill historic
site, Taum Sauk Mountain State Park, Missouri mines historic site,
and Clearwater Lake recreational area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.
