* flood advisory for...
Ozark County in southwestern Missouri...
Shannon County in south central Missouri...
southeastern Webster County in southwestern Missouri...
Douglas County in southwestern Missouri...
Wright County in southwestern Missouri...
Dent County in south central Missouri...
eastern Taney County in southwestern Missouri...
southeastern Laclede County in southwestern Missouri...
Howell County in south central Missouri...
Texas County in south central Missouri...
south central Phelps County in east central Missouri...
Oregon County in south central Missouri...

* until 1215 PM CDT Friday

* at 1218 PM CDT, the Department of Transportation reported ongoing
flooding occurring across much of south central Missouri. Many
low water crossing remain flooded from yesterdays heavy rainfall.

* Creeks, streams, and low water crossings will be especially
susceptible to the dangers of flooding.

This advisory includes but is not limited to the following low water
crossings...
Route E north of Highway 38 at the Gasconade river...
Route ff at Hunter Creek east of Ava...
Route h, 3 miles east of Winona...
Route ff at Turkey Creek east of Ava...
and Highway 142 at the Spring River west of Lanton.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

evening...

The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of southeast Kansas and
Missouri, including the following areas, in southeast Kansas,
Bourbon, Cherokee, and Crawford. In Missouri, Barry, Barton,
Benton, Camden, Cedar, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Dent, Douglas,
Greene, Hickory, Howell, Jasper, Laclede, Lawrence, Maries,
McDonald, Miller, Morgan, Newton, Oregon, Ozark, Phelps, Polk,
Pulaski, Shannon, St. Clair, stone, Taney, Texas, Vernon,
Webster, and Wright.

* From Friday evening through Sunday evening

* periods of thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall will occur
from Friday night through Sunday. Storm total rainfall amounts
from 3 to 6 inches are expected, with localized amounts of 8
inches or more likely. It is still unclear where the heaviest
rainfall will occur.

* With soils already saturated as well as creeks, streams, and
rivers running high, the potential for widespread and
significant flooding is becoming increasingly likely for
portions of the Missouri Ozarks. Flooding of some creeks,
rivers, and low water crossings could last for several days
after the rain ends.

Some main Stem rivers that will experience significant rises
and potential flooding include the Elk, Spring, James, Big
Piney, Gasconade, Jacks Fork, current, eleven point, Osage,
and Marmaton.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
