... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from midnight Friday night
to 5 am MST Sunday...

The National Weather Service in Great Falls has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow... which is in effect
from midnight Friday night to 5 am MST Sunday.

* Timing and main impact: snow and blowing snow will develop
Friday evening along the Rocky Mountain front and late Friday
night across southwest Montana. Snow will continue through
Sunday morning. Travel may become difficult... especially over
mountain passes.

* Snow accumulations: total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 are
possible with locally higher amounts in the mountains above pass
level.

* Winds and visibility: the combination of falling snow and gusty
winds will create widespread blowing snow and visibility less
than one-half mile at times.

* Locations affected include: Targhee Pass... West Yellowstone...
Browning... Marias Pass... Big Hole Pass... Chief Joseph Pass...
Monida Pass... Lincoln... Raynolds Pass.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means that
visibilities will be limited due to a combination of falling and
blowing snow. Use caution when traveling... especially in open
areas.

High Wind Warning

... High Wind Warning remains in effect until 10 PM MST Saturday...

A High Wind Warning remains in effect until 10 PM MST Saturday.

* Timing: periods of strong and gusty winds will impact locations
along the Rocky Mountain front today through Saturday evening.
The strongest and most widespread winds are expected Saturday
afternoon.

* Winds: westerly winds 35 to 50 mph with gusts up to 65 mph at
times.

* Impacts: strong winds will make travel difficult for high
profile vehicles... especially along north to south oriented
roads and highways.

* Locations affected include: Choteau... Browning... Marias Pass.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
