... NWS damage survey for 06/28/16 tornado event- update 2...

.Update... New information led to a storm survey completed on Thursday,
June 30th. The survey revealed more wind damage occurred in an area from 8 to
10 miles north of Ashby. One large cottenwood tree was uprooted with several
tree limbs down. The damaged occurred as the rear flank down draft from the
first supercell that produced the first tornado in far southwest Cherry County
descended. Further southeast into northwest Grant County storm damage also
occurred approximately 7 miles northwest of Hyannis. This tornado was rated
an EF2 on the Enhanced Fujita scale.

.Overview... Thunderstorms developed over the northern Nebraska Panhandle and
moved southeast. Storms intensified to include a few supercells. In far
southwest Cherry County, or 15 miles north of Ashby in Grant County, a supercell
produced a brief tornado that touched down just east of Alkali Lake. The
tornado moved southeast about a mile before dissipating. No damage was
observed or reported by law enforcement.

Survey_summary: the tornado developed as a supercell that was moving
southeast into north Central Grant County intensified. The tornado touched down
near 7 miles northwest of Hyannis and was intermittently on the ground for
almost one mile. The tornado destroyed a new four stall metal caving shed,
took down a power line, snapped or twisted several large trees and an
estimated 25, 1500 pound round Hay bales moved in various directions with most
unrolled with Hay in the fencing in all directions. Three Hay bales
that were rolled uphill that were on their sides and a few rolled into
fencing on the east, south and west sides of a Hay field. A pole barn
sustained damage with various debris found a half mile away. An empty 500 gallon
fiberglass Water Tank was found up to a mile east.

Other wind damage included a two stall open faced garage and small barn that
sustained wind damage that were located to the east and southeast of the family
