The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued an

* Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
south central Catron County in west central New Mexico

* until 715 PM MDT

* at 514 PM MDT National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain

this will impact the Whitewater Baldy burn scar including but not
limited to Highway 180 bridge at Alma over Mineral creek... State
Road 159... Mogollon and Silver Creek... the catwalk... State Road
174... Highway 180 bridge at Glenwood over Whitewater creek and the
Fish Hatchery... Highway 180 over Holt Gulch in Pleasanton... State
Road 435.

This will impact the Whitewater Baldy burn scar including but not
limited to the middle and West Forks of the Gila River... the Gila
cliff dwellings and State Road 15... Loco Mountain Road... Forest
Road 142.

Between 0.75 to 1 inches have fallen across the advisory area.

* Strong flows and high water levels are expected in arroyos... small
streams and over low water crossings. Rapid runoff can also be
expected immediately over and downstream from wildfire burn scars.

northwestern Sandoval County in north central New Mexico
extreme southeastern San Juan County in northwest New Mexico
northeastern McKinley County in west central New Mexico

* until 645 PM MDT

* at 440 PM MDT National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain from a cluster of storms between Pueblo Pintado to Ojo
Encino and rural areas west of Torreon Navajo mission. Navajo
Route 9 will be impacted southeast of Pueblo Pintado. Expect
between 0.6 to 1.0 inches.

* Strong flows and high water levels are expected in arroyos... small
streams and over low water crossings. Rapid runoff can also be
expected immediately over and downstream from wildfire burn scars.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Remember... ditches are deadly. A gentle flow of water can become a
raging torrent in a matter of minutes.
