Flood Warning, Areal Flood Warning

The Flood Warning continues for
the black at Kingstree.
* Until further notice.
* At 9:00 PM Friday the stage was 16.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue to fall to a stage of 12.9 feet by Sunday
* Impact... at 16.0 feet... flood waters will flow into some homes in the Kingstree
area. Extensive flooding will occur along the remainder of the river.

... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 100 PM EDT Tuesday for
east central Williamsburg and central Georgetown counties...

At 848 PM EDT... emergency management and law enforcement personnel
have reported that flooding continues on the Black River near
Andrews... and at points farther downstream in Georgetown County.
Additional reports late Friday afternoon indicated the Black River
at Highway 41 in Andrews may have crested. It is anticipated that
the peak water level will occur in the Big Dam swamp area
Saturday... and in the Browns Ferry Road and Dunbar Road areas on
Sunday. In these areas it is estimated that a rise of another 6
inches to a foot is possible before the river finally crests.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Andrews... Oatland and Warsaw.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been
reported. People in or near locations susceptible to flooding should
take necessary precautions immediately to safeguard life and

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where water covers the roadway. Low lying areas like retention
ponds and drainage ditches become hidden from view when flooded.
Flood waters are usually deeper than they appear. When encountering
flooded roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Santee river near Jamestown.
* At 8 am Friday the stage was 20.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast, the river will rise to near 22.8 feet by early Sunday
morning then begin a slow fall.
* At 23.0 feet, the home at the end of Lawton farm Lane begins to

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of southeast North Carolina and
northeast South Carolina... including the following in ...
southeast North Carolina... Bladen... coastal Brunswick...
coastal New Hanover... coastal Pender... Columbus... inland
Brunswick... inland New Hanover... inland Pender and Robeson. In
northeast South Carolina... coastal Georgetown... Darlington...
Dillon... Florence... inland Georgetown... Marion... Marlboro...
Williamsburg... coastal Horry and inland Horry.

* Through late tonight.

* Additional rainfall will average 1 to 2 inches across the watch
area. Higher amounts are possible where heavier showers
repeatedly move across the same general area. This rain will be
falling on saturated... to in some cases... flooded soils. This
will not only aggravate ongoing flooding... but may lead to
renewed areas of flooding.

* Smaller waterways may again flood. In more urban areas...
drainage systems may not be able to keep up where heavy rain is
persistent. Many large Stem rivers are already in flood from the
long duration of heavy rain not even a week ago. Additional
rainfall will likely slow their recession and prolong the

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
