... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 6 am Friday to
4 am EST Saturday...

* event... snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected. The
greatest accumulations will be in the higher elevations.

* Timing... snow will begin around sunrise Friday. Scattered to
numerous snow showers will linger into Friday evening... and
gradually decrease late Friday night.

* Impacts... Road conditions will be deteriorating Friday
morning... and hazardous Road conditions will be possible
through Friday night.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Travel will likely become hazardous once the wintry precipitation
begins. Motorists need to be especially careful on bridges and
overpasses where slippery spots often develop first.

... Light snow will return across the area Friday and Friday
night for areas along and north of Interstate 40...

A fast moving system will move across the area Friday... bringing
with it another round of light snow across southwest
Virginia and northeast Tennessee. The snow will begin early Friday
morning across the northern plateau... then spread east over the
rest of the region... generally along and north of Interstate 40.
The snow will mix with or change to rain across the central
Tennessee Valley. Snow accumulations up to 1 inch are possible.
Scattered snow showers are expected to persist into Friday evening.
Additional snowfall accumulations will be mainly over the higher
terrain.

Very cold wind chills are expected late Friday night and Saturday
morning... especially across the higher elevations.

Snow and ice covered roadways are possible across the area creating
hazardous travel conditions. Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather
Radio and other local media for further details or updates.

Airport...

The high temperature yesterday at the Tri-Cities Airport was 25
degrees.

This breaks the old record low maximum temperature for February the
10th... which was 26 in 1979
