The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a

* flood advisory for...
southern Comanche County in southwestern Oklahoma...
western Cotton County in southwestern Oklahoma...
Jackson County in southwestern Oklahoma...
Tillman County in southwestern Oklahoma...
southern Harmon County in southwestern Oklahoma...
northwestern Wichita County in northern Texas...
central Wilbarger County in northern Texas...
Hardeman County in northern Texas...

* until 1000 am CDT

* at 654 am CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.
Nearly to two inches of rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Lawton, Altus, Vernon, Burkburnett, Frederick, Quanah, Hollis,
Cache, Electra, Geronimo, Grandfield, Tipton, Chillicothe, Olustee,
Chattanooga, Eldorado, Indiahoma, Davidson, Manitou and Devol.

Additional rainfall of up to one inch is expected over the area.
This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots. Turn around, don't
drown.

The Flood Watch for flash flooding... flooding of creeks and
rivers... and flooding of low lying areas continues for

* a portion of northern Texas, including the following areas,
Baylor, Foard, Hardeman, Knox, and Wilbarger counties.

* Through Wednesday evening

* locally heavy rainfall may occur with periods of showers and
isolated thunderstorms today through early Wednesday evening.

* Rainfall totals of 2 to 3 inches with locally higher amounts
possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
