northwestern Hertford County in northeastern North Carolina...
the southwestern city of Chesapeake in southeastern Virginia...
southwestern Isle of Wight County in southeastern Virginia...
southeastern Southampton County in southeastern Virginia...
the city of Franklin in southeastern Virginia...
the city of Suffolk in southeastern Virginia...

* at 440 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Urban and Small Stream flooding.
Overflowing poor drainage areas will result in minor flooding in
the advisory area. Two to three inches of rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Franklin... Murfreesboro... Courtland... Gatesville...
Chowan University... Holland... Sunbury... downtown Suffolk...
Deep Creek... Chesapeake... Suffolk... gates... Winton... Newsoms...
como... Corapeake... Carrsville... Whaleyville...
Hunterdale and Roduco.

Additional thunderstorms from the west will move over the same areas
over the next one to two hours. Expect an additional one to two
inches of rain over the warned area. This additional rain will make
minor flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated... or
ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

At 405 PM EDT... radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located
along a line extending from near Kenbridge to near Conway. Movement
was northeast at 35 mph.

Wind gusts in excess of 30 mph, frequent lightning and torrential
downpours are possible with these storms.

Rainfall amounts of up to 1 inch are possible with these storms.
These storms will be near...
Boykins and Conway around 410 PM EDT.
Newsoms and Wilsons around 415 PM EDT.
Franklin... Courtland... Hunterdale and Sedley around 420 PM EDT.
