Areal Flood Advisory

The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
central Johnson County in north central Wyoming...

* until 1130 PM MDT

* at 839 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
thunderstorms with heavy rainfall across central Johnson County.
Doppler radar estimated between one and two inches of rain has
fallen near mile marker 265 on Interstate 25.

* Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause minor flooding to
occur... especially along small streams and near low water
crossings. Some locations that will experience minor flooding
include... ... near i25 exit 265... as well as the Trail
Draw... Ninemile and dry creeks

This includes Interstate 25 in Wyoming between mile markers 261 and
278.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from this storm will cause minor flooding of small
creeks and streams... country roads... as well as farmland along the
banks of creeks and streams.

Most deaths in flash flooding occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to
cross bridges... dips... or low water crossings if water covers the
roadway. Never try to cross a flowing stream... even a small one... on
foot or in a vehicle.

Through 11 PM... scattered showers and thunderstorms over the
southern Bighorn Mountains... and southern Johnson County will lift
slowly northeast to east. The main hazards will be heavy rainfall
which could cause minor flooding of small streams... small hail... and
frequent lightning... and wind gusts to 45 mph. Snow is expected to
occur above 9500 feet... where a couple of inches of new snow
could accumulate.
