The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
northeastern Johnson County in north central Wyoming...

* until 630 am MDT Wednesday

* at 625 PM MDT... flooding continued along the Powder River from the
Interstate 90 bridge and northward. The Powder River at Sussex
reached a record crest of 15.6 inches Tuesday morning. This flood
wave will continue to travel north from Interstate 90 to the
Sheridan County line overnight.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include the Powder
River bridge on i90... i90 exit 88... i90 Exit 91 the Powder River
rest area... and ranches and rural roads between Interstate 90 and
the Sheridan County line.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. If flash flooding is observed act quickly. Do
not enter the water. Turn around and move up to higher ground to
escape flood waters. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when
water begins rising.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.

To report flooding... have the nearest law enforcement agency relay
your report to the National Weather Service forecast office in
Riverton.

Flash Flood Watch

... Flash Flood Watch in effect until midnight MDT tonight...

The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of central Wyoming and north
central Wyoming... including the following areas... in central
Wyoming... Casper Mountain... Green Mountains and rattlesnake
range... Natrona County lower elevations... Owl Creek and
Bridger Mountains and southwest Big Horn basin. In north
central Wyoming... Bighorn Mountains southeast... Bighorn
Mountains west... northeast Johnson County... southeast Big Horn
basin and southeast Johnson County.

* Until midnight MDT tonight

* saturated soils combined with areas of slow moving thunderstorms
will elevate the flash flood threat through the evening.
Rainfall rates are exceeding 2 inches per hour in some cases. In
addition... storms are repeatedly forming and moving over the
same locations... which could lead to flash flooding or rock and
mud slides... especially in the mountains. An additional 2 to 4
inches of rainfall is possible in the watch area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
